Dunoon, Capital of Cowal
Dunoon is the lively gathering place for the whole Cowal Peninsula. The town offers a museum and leisure centre as well as a fascinating selection of craft shops, traditional high street shopping, galleries, cafes and restaurants.
Castle House Museum
The Museum has exhibitions on the history of Cowal and has a beautiful setting over the town. The museum gardens are excellent for a picnic with excellent views of the Firth of Clyde and surrounding hills. Putting and tennis also available.
Leisure Centres
The Dunoon Leisure Centre has a 25m pool, kid's pool, a free flume, a well equipped gym with qualified instructors, health suite with spa and sauna, and a café. The Dolphin Leisure Complex at Hunter's Quay Holiday Village, near Dunoon has a 25m indoor heated swimming pool, a 25m children's indoor heated swimming pool, a steam room, sauna and jacuzzi, a licenced bar and lounge area where meals are served all day, a state of the art gymnasium, 3 indoor badminton courts, table tennis, a snooker room (over 18's only), a video arcade, and a games room with pool tables. The centre is open all year.
